Need of this Book
“The Hindu Diary of Events” comes up annually summarizing the major events from India and world in all spheres of life. It gives the aspirants to look back and revise those happenings from the perspective of the UPSC or other the State PCS exams.

However, “The Hindu Diary of Events” (supplementary copy of The Hindu newspaper) is not selfexplanatory or prioritized as per the needs of the examination, rather it is written date wise and in titbits style. To do away with those difficulties we have compiled and explained the all exam centric triggers (useful topics) from the supplementary copy.

As respective commissions keenly looks back at previous 12 to 15 months, now a days while framing questions, it is wise to prepare accordingly. The present work thus will be a yearlong companion for the aspirants in their preparation for IAS, PCS exams at prelims, mains and interview levels.

How to Use This Book Effectively

The yearlong events have been segregated and arranged according to the topics of prelims syllabus
of UPSC-CSE. Also the same events are triggered as keywords and explained from the basic knowledge (static parts) up to the current affairs level related to the respective topics. For better clarity and concepts use of info-graphics taken from different newspapers cuttings for student’s ease has been added.

Aspirants should bear these points in mind while reading this book:
1. Look at the given syllabus of UPSC or your respective PCS examination again and again.
2. Take out the PYQ’s asked in exams especially from 2011 to 2018 to know ‘How topics are
moulded as questions and their options’.
3. Read the explanation given and look at the Info-graphics used.
4. The events can be read once from prelims perspective but later readings should be utilized on
how to use these information as mains examples or issues explanations.
5. Read and revise again and again especially before your mock tests to remember for long.
6. Solve 100 MCQs given at the end of the book; also write mains type subjective questions
